Homemade Caramel : How to Make Caramel

Homemade Caramel : How to Make Caramel Syrup

Caramel is so easy to prepare.
It can be used as a topping for Pancakes, Ice cream, Cakes, Donuts, Puff puff and other snacks and desserts.

It is also very easy to make, all you need are 2 ingredients. Here’s how to prepare it.

Ingredients for Caramel Syrup
This make about 1 and 1\2 cups

– 1 cup White Sugar
– 1 cup boiling water

Preparation:

1. Pour the sugar into a heavy bottomed pan or pot with high sides.
Heat up the sugar on medium heat, until the sugar melts completely and changes from white to light golden brown caramel.
Note: don’t stir it until the sugar has melted completely.

2. Now, gradually pour in the boiling water.
The caramel will foam and bubble a bit, wait until the bubbling goes down, then stir well  with a wooden spoon and continue to cook  for 3 minutes or until the water incorporates with the syrup.

3. Put off the heat and leave to cool, then pour into a glass jar, seal and store in the fridge or use for whatever recipe you desire.

Note: the caramel syrup will thicken further when it cools.

Please I'm a bit confused.did you pour the sugar in a pot without adding water until it turned brown or did you add the boiling water to the pot immediately you poured the sugar into the pot?I feel like the sugar might burn in the pot without liquid?thanks in anticipation of ypur reply
