Nigerian Plantain Mosa…yummy Nigerian Snack |
Plantain Mosa is a delicious Nigerian snack that is made from over ripe plantains , mixed with eggs, pepper , select spices and deep fried. It is so easy to make and a great way to make use of over ripe plantains in the kitchen.
It is usually confused with Akara or yam puffs(ojojo) because of their similarities in shape.
Plantain Mosa is a yummy Nigerian snack …here’s a simple recipe. Enjoy!
Ingredients for Plantain Mosa
1 ripe plantain(usually over ripe ones)
1 raw egg(break egg an set aside)
2 tablespoonful Flour
Ground red chilli pepper (to taste)
Salt (to taste)
Vegetable oil for frying
Plantain Mosa cooking Directions
*Cut and peel the plantain.
*Mash thoroughly , and add the egg, flour, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
*Heat up the oil on medium heat until hot. Using a tablespoon, scoop the plantain mixture into hot oil and fry each side of the Mosa for 2 minutes or until both sides are brown.
*Transfer the Mosa to a sieve lined with paper towels , to absorb the excess oil
*Now your Plantain Mosa is ready …Enjoy!
Plantain Mosa can be eating alone as a snack or taken with Ogi (pap) .

Yes, it can be a bit oily, but that can be avoided by frying with less oil or pressing the Mosa down with the frying spoon when you transfer into the pan(but this might flatten it out)
Can over ripe banana be used in place of plantain.

mine turned out great. erybory wanted 3rd's.i am am 10 yrs old and made this withno assistance.My mom was not to happy about the fact that i used the stove without guidance.She was happy tho when she ate it. Except my little bro helped me mash the plantain.That was fun.My grannysaid she makes her own with plantain and maize.(corn flour)
